Share a copy
Not every export is for a store. Share a copy makes a file to read, send to a friend, keep editing elsewhere, or put away: the whole project in the format that suits.
Make a copy
- Open the project's Export page and choose Share a copy.
- Under Options, choose the Style and the Paper, if the defaults don't suit.
- Press the format you want and choose where to save it.
| Format | Good for |
|---|---|
| Reading on screen or printing at home: the cover, the book's own pages, contents, footnotes at the foot of their page, and no blank pages. | |
| Word | Sending to an editor or a reader who comments in Word, still editable. |
| Web page | One HTML file with the whole work in it, styles and pictures included, to open in a browser or put on a site. |
| Markdown | Anywhere that takes plain text, with chapters and numbering kept. |
| Rich Text | Opens formatted in TextEdit, Pages and every version of Word, and in submission portals that refuse .docx. |
| Project copy | Everything as φ keeps it, to move this work to another vault or to put it away. |
Styles and paper
A shared copy uses a style rather than a book design: As it looks in φ (the default: your editor's font, with book margins), Standard manuscript, Paperback, Poetry or Academic paper, or one of your own (Custom styles). The Paper sets the page size of the PDF: Letter, A4, A5, Digest or Trade. The other formats reflow.
Bringing a copy back
A Project copy is a .poiesis file with the project, its documents and
its pictures in it. To open it in another vault, use Import a φ document
(.poiesis)… in the command palette (Importing).
